The Tome
From Enter The Haven
The Tome is the first of Ordrune's "gifts" to the Haven. It's origin is unknown; it doesn't seem to have been created by Ordrune and in fact even he is unaware of its background. It currently resides in the Library.
The Tome poses as a very large, black leatherbound book. Devoid of title, index or page numbers, each page is filled with a random, meaningless jumble of letters and words in an infinite number of scripts, languages, runes, numerals, heiroglyphics and the like. However, when the reader flips through pages with a question in mind and the Tome chooses to give a response, they will find a block of text on a page in their most comfortable native tongue.
The Tome will directly answer most encyclopaedic questions; however, requests for advice, answered secrets, divination, precognition or anything the reader could not find out on his or her own will generally be answered with riddles, metaphor, and advice as to where to start (if anything at all). It is very nearly omniscient, and while it can not influence the outside world directly it has complete control over its own form (I.E. it can change its weight, become intangible or invisible, pages may be ripped out with no damage, contains an infinite number of pages, etc.)
If asked, the Tome will refer to itself using a feminine pronoun. Finally, it refuses to answer any query made by Ordrune or Vay.
